Current:

My research centers on providing active learning to large numbers of students and the role technology can play in improving student learning and retention. As the coordinator of MAE 206 Engineering Statics, I’ve developed extensive materials to allow students to excel both in and out of class. The online environment includes short videos for each topic, pre- and post-class quizzes, full class HTML notes, Google slides for student groups to use during class, and multiple example videos for each class in a gamified environment. In-class demonstrations and active problem-solving sessions challenge students to apply basic concepts to widely varying problems in an environment where they can get help from their teammates, instructors, and undergraduate learning assistants. She has contributed to and adopted an open-access text to aid students financially. Her newest research focus is on entrepreneurially-minded learning in the classroom with the goal of having NC State become a KEEN partner school.
